Hi, I’m Alston Cox, welcome to my website. You can also find me on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. If you’re interested in purchasing my work, visit my Etsy shop.
I first fell in love with photography while in middle school in the 1980's when my art teacher lent me a 35mm camera. I spent hours in the darkroom developing film and printing images. In the years I spent getting my undergraduate degree I was a Fine Arts major, Creative Writing major, and Photography major. I got my degree in Communication Arts with a focus in Photography & Video Production from The University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. I have worked as a freelance photographer and spent several years immersed in the San Antonio film community working on feature films and participating in The Short Ends Project. My short films have appeared in the San Antonio Underground Film Festival and Luminaria Arts Festival while my photography has appeared in Fotoseptiembre, San Antonio's yearly month-long photography festival. In 2006, after losing access to my darkroom, I turned to painting, finding a similar ability and passion to control and manipulate images. Over the next ten years I studied drawing and painting at Southwest School of Art. I live in San Antonio, Texas.
